The Wednesday Night League Who, What, When, Where…

The Schedule for August 4:

One round; all games start @ 6:30 PM:

Field B1 – Jraffe/Breezy Clique vs. Zara Clique

Field B2 – The Uncoachables vs. Ye Olde UMBC

Field B3 - Goucher Clique vs. Winston Clique

Field B4 – Hopkins Clique vs. Arundel-1

Field B5 – TUSAFB Clique vs. K-Poff Clique

Who – We have ten very stuffed teams this year.  We considered stretching it to 12 teams, but we just didn’t have enough women to justify it.  Some teams are very strong and some teams have a ton of beginners.  Everyone needs to be patient with the beginners and show no mercy against the tough teams.  It should be a very interesting summer.

What – The Wednesday Night League plays one scheduled game each week, therefore this game should be a nice long game.  It must be to at least 15 points, but the two captains can agree to a longer game if they so desire.   If we are rained-out on a given Wednesday we may schedule a double header later in the season to make up the games.  On double header nights the games will go to 13 and a time-cap will be used to end the first round with enough daylight left to play the second round game.

The Season is scheduled to be 10 weeks long – 6 regular season weeks + 4 playoff weeks.   The last week of games is scheduled to be on August 11, but rainouts during the playoffs could force us to extend the season into mid/late August.

A pick-up game will be available after regular games for those that need more ultimate!

When –  All games are scheduled to start at 6:30 PM

Where – All regular season games will be played at the Banneker Rec. Center.  Fields B1 and B2 are accessed from Old Frederick Road and Fields B3 – B5 are accessed from the Rec. Center on Wesley Ave (between Main Ave and Shipley Ave).  Please do not speed in the neighborhood, you are never so late that seconds matter.

What Not – Please do not bring your dogs or beer to the games.

SUMMER LEAGUE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

You may still register for either or both leagues, but at this point you will be placed on a waiting list and *PERHAPS* be added to the league sometime after the draft. Ladies should not hesitate to put their names on the waiting list!

Follow this link to the registration page for complete league descriptions and to register.

A Reminder to Turf Field Users

Turf field rules:  In general you play on a turf field pretty much like you would any field (rubber cleats are fine), but outside of play you have to treat it a little differently.    You have to view it like a carpet that you can’t send out to be cleaned and that you can’t even vacuum.

Hence the basic rules:

1)      Only water shall be consumed on the field.

2)      No food shall be consumed on the field.

3)      No chairs are allowed on the field.  (The concern seems to be that the feet may puncture the membrane that lies under the rubber pellets.)

4)      No dogs allowed anywhere near the field.

5)      No glass containers anywhere near the field.
